Crystal Forum Sponsorship – Brendan Van Rhyn

With delight, Crystal Forum announce our sponsorship of Brendan Van Rhyn

You would almost have to be living in a time warp yourself not to have heard from some quarter or other about Brendan Van Rhyn’s larger-than-life and massively acclaimed portrayal of Frank ‘n Furter in the recent South African run of The Rocky Horror Picture Show! There is no doubt that Brendan is extremely hot property, and so it is with sheer glee that Crystal Forum announce that we will be collaborating with and sponsoring Brendan with our equally hot and alluring Crystalp range of crystal jewellery and accessories. Crystalp is manufactured using Swarovski Elements, and the edgy appeal of our new ranges (see the Innovations page on our website to view and download the exciting Spring/Summer 2014 catalogue) suits Brendan’s various stage persona’s down to a tee, not to mention that it’s world-class quality matches that of the artist perfectly. There is something for everyone in the new collection, of course, and in addition to some of the more elaborate styles, you’ll also find singularly stunning statement pieces and the timeless, elegant and sometimes delicate articles made using crystal beads, crystal pearls, silver and stainless steel, that you’ve come to associate with this beautiful range of jewellery and accessories.

The recently concluded run of Rocky Horror is Brendan’s second outing as the completely over-the-top “Sweet Transvestite” Frank ‘n Furter in this much-loved cult musical, and his first portrayal of the iconic character in the 2008 Victory Theatre production, won him a well-earned Naledi award (Best Male Performance in a Musical) for his not insubstantial efforts and huge talent. Each new production of the show however, brings a fresh approach, a new cast and production team, different audiences and quite possibly a different city, all of which make for a uniquely special creation. Brendan and the current Rocky Horror ensemble are set to hit stages again later this year, with a run at the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town commencing in July 2014, followed by the Gauteng leg of the tour which kicks off (quite literally, given Brendan’s amazing pins!) in November 2014.

Frank ‘n Furter is not the only big personality one associates with Brendan, and the blonde bombshell air stewardess of his own creation, Cathy Specific, is another much-loved character he has brought to life in his unique and talented fashion. Having spent several years as an SAA flight attendant himself, Brendan was able to apply first-hand experience, anecdotes and on-the-job research to his creation, and his show ‘Mile High with Cathy Specific’ achieved fabulous reviews during it’s runs.

Brendan, the man, is a lot more low-key than his various stage personalities, and he has a long and accomplished musical background backing up the ‘out-there’ theatrical persona. Starting piano lessons at the tender age of five, and honing his natural vocal ability with voice coaching and training throughout his schooling, Brendan has always been poised for a career in the arts and music. Though he chose not to attend, he was accepted as a student at the London School of Musical Theatre, but instead went on to complete a Musical Theatre Diploma at Pretoria Technikon. Brendan has been a part of the South African theatre scene for many years and his versatility and talent have lent themselves to roles in comedies, tragedies, dramas and pantomimes alike, all with seeming ease and good review.

Crystal Forum believes that the collaboration between Brendan and Crystalp is match made in theatrical heaven, as good looks, charm, versatility and modern-day edginess are undoubtedly characteristics shared by both, and they will each enhance the other’s appeal. We look forward to a long and enjoyable partnership with Brendan, and encourage you to watch our blog page for more news and articles on this powerhouse of musical theatre!

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo & Juliet…and Crystalp – a magical love story

What with February and St Valentine’s Day being the month and day of love respectively,  Crystal Forum in collaboration with it’s retail partner Simply Manas Gift Emporium, Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro Cinemas chose the month to run a fabulous giveaway and promotion around the release of the remake of Romeo & Juliet. Movie-goers were afforded the opportunity to win jewellery and vouchers from the Swarovski Crystalp range, available at Simply Manas in Sandton City.

In the spirit of love and partnerships, Crystal Forum and Simply Manas are extending the Romeo & Juliet promotion to all customers for a further month, and are offering a 20% discount off all Crystalp crystal jewellery and accessories until the end of March 2014.

It is wholly fitting that Swarovski Crystalp and Romeo & Juliet would feature together in such an amazing promotion, as, in co-production with Amber Entertainment, this remake of Shakespeare’s classic love story marks Swarovski Entertainment’s entry into the making of feature films. As one would expect of the manufacturer of such beautiful and sought-after crystal jewellery, crystal beads, crystal stones, etc, Swarovski has long been a part of film, theatre, opera and ballet production, but until now this has largely been in the form of costume and set design.

The movie brings together a star-studded cast as well as introducing some talented relative newcomers to the silver screen, notably in the form of Douglas Booth, the young and handsome ex-Burberry model who plays Romeo. American teenager, Hailee Steinfeld, whom one might remember from her performance in True Grit, takes on the role of Juliet, and the youth and charm of these two actors lends a sincerity to their portrayal of Shakespeare’s  star-crossed young lovers.

As one would hope and understandably so, Costume designer Carlo Poggioli makes extensive use of Swarovski Elements in the elaborate and sumptuous costumes and jewellery worn by the cast, and pearl buttons, fancy stones and extensive crystal beading feature throughout, conveying the wealth of the feudal families and opulence of the times.

Another reason the collaboration is so apt is in the simple beauty and timeless appeal of this historic love story, which is reflected in the same beauty and timeless appeal of Swarovski Crystalp jewellery.

Crystalp is our range of top-quality crystal and pearl jewellery manufactured using Swarovski elements, and offered in the form of finished jewellery pieces such as rings, necklaces and ear-rings, as well as crystal accessories, charms and trinkets.

Please come in to Simply Manas Gift Emporium at Shop L336, Lower Level, Protea Court, Sandton City, during the month of March to take up the special 20% discount offer on the full Crystalp range.

Simply Manas can also be reached by telephone on +27 11 784 0270 or by visiting their website at simplymanas.com

Crystal Forum Brand Ambassador – Leanne Manas

Crystal Forum announce the appointment of Leanne Manas as Crystalp Brand Ambassador

It is with great pleasure that Crystal Forum announce another remarkable South African woman to act as Brand Ambassador for their exclusive crystal jewellery products. Leanne Manas has been appointed as brand ambassador for Crystalp, the upmarket, high-quality and fashionable range of jewellery and accessories made using Swarovski Elements, and distributed solely by Crystal Forum in South Africa and it’s neighbouring countries.

Not only will Leanne carry the banner as ambassador for Crystalp, but a wide selection from the range of Crystalp products is already available from Simply Manas, her retail gift emporium in Sandton City, and also via the Simply Manas website.

Leanne is an ideal fit for the role of Crystalp ambassador as her keen sense of style and fashion and her classy refinement and charm reflect that of the brand perfectly. Leanne is perhaps best-known as a lead anchorwoman on Morning Live, however her provenance covers a much wider range of accomplishments and experience than many may know of.

Long before Leanne’s career in the public eye took off so successfully, she qualified as a  Speech and Drama teacher through London’s Trinity College,  and she also has an Honours degree in English tucked under her belt. She later started her career in radio as a weekend news anchor for Talk Radio 702 before moving to Johnnic Publishing’s African Business Channel (Now Avusa Media) as a news anchor for Classic fm. Leanne also worked with several other radio stations in the world of South African media before commencing her television career in which she would be most successful.

Her television career kicked off with her role as the main news anchor for the South African Business Channel, Summit Television, and in the period between then and now, Leanne has taken on many roles, including successful associations with programs such as IT News, Business Update and Business focus.
It was in 2004 that Leanne first became involved with Morning Live as the lead female anchor, and in this role that her television career has reached great heights.

Leanne has won numerous accolades and awards, amongst which you will find You Magazine’s Best ever SA TV Presenter Award, People Magazine’s Best South African Female Television Presenter, and People Magazine’s Best Dressed Female Presenter. In addition, she was nominated as one of Cosmoplitan’s Most Awesome Woman of 2004, and for Sanlam’s Business Journalist of the year award in 2002.

Despite Leanne’s outstanding achievements in her career and the media, she also sees herself as a mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend, and it is as much for this warmth and depth as for her success and standing that we are elated to have Leanne associated with the Crystalp range of Swarovksi Elements manufactured crystal jewellery and accessories.

Crystal Forum Brand Ambassador – Edith Venter

Edith Venter appointed as Brand Ambassador for Crystal Forum

Crystal Forum, major wholesaler and distributor for Swarovski Elements in South Africa and Southern Africa, is delighted to announce  Edith Venter’s appointment as a Brand Ambassador.

Edith Venter is a beloved and well-known South African personality and businesswoman, and has had a long and successful  association with Crystal Forum to-date, culminating in her recent appointment as ambassador for the Crystal Forum brand. With her beauty, style and elegance, Edith epitomizes the spirit of the Crystal Forum brand as the first  Swarovski-authorized Crystal Elements wholesaler and distributor in South Africa.

Crystal Forum are also the sole appointed distributors of Crystalp crystal jewellery and crystal accessories in South Africa,  along with the Implexions Collection, and some of the pieces within the exclusive Crystalp range are amongst Edith’s favourite items of crystal and pearl jewellery. Both Crystalp and Implexions are Austrian companies, with Crystalp specializing in the manufacture of jewellery and accessories making use of Swarovski Elements, whilst Implexions’ emphasis is focused largely on corporate gifts and home decor also incorporating Swarovski Elements.

Edith can often be seen wearing earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, chains, charms and broaches from these stylish ranges in her work as a dedicated supporter of many charity organisations, as well as in her role as successful businesswoman in her events company, Edith Unlimited, and as a motivational speaker. Edith Unlimited covers the full range of events, from charity functions to corporate events, product launches, weddings and high-profile society affairs  in South Africa.

Though one would think her charity and business affairs would keep her fully occupied, Edith still somehow manages to find time to attend important social events, and she has frequently appeared on the best-dressed lists of South Africa, as well as featuring in David Dodd’s calendar of SA’s most beautiful women in 1994. Her enduring style, class and good looks make her a natural fit as ambassador for Crystal Forum, as does her alignment with only the top brands and highest quality of association.

Once more, we would like to extend our warmest welcome to Edith Venter as brand ambassador for Crystal Forum. We are confident that the association will continue for many years to come, and look forward to sharing and supporting Edith in many successful events in the future with our exclusive and sophisticated crystal accessories and jewellery.
